Hail Storm

NOTE: You can click on any of the pictures to view them larger.

On May 30 in the evening we had a hail storm. I just wanted to cry because my plants were doing so good. I was so down about it, but what could do I? Well what I did do was take pictures. Pretty much self-explanatory. :)

This is the sidewalk right out our front door. Yes it's still hailing and raining out.

My poor pool gardens. :( Aren't they sad looking?

My poor pea plants. :(

That evening, as the sun was starting to set, the lighting was awesome out there. Everything had a nice hazy mist/fog.

This is a bolt on the bridge.

After the hail storm, the lighting was so different out, depending on the way you looked, the sky had a orange glow. It would have been the perfect night to take portraits.

Beauty

NOTE: You can click on any of the pictures to view them larger.

Lately I've been trying to find beauty where I live in town. I yearn to be out in the country again, but since that is not a possibility, I've been taking pictures of things around me here at home. Despite being in the middle of town, we still do have plants and wildlife around.

First pictures though are from May 30. On May 29 we had some wicked wind and lots of rain during the night. The next morning when I went out to check my plants, this is what I found.

These next pictures were also taken on May 30 in the morning, before the hail storm. (See next post for pictures of that. :)

First picture is of our unique yard. We have grass, purple flowers, dandelions, and weeds. As hubby says it gives our yard character. I have to agree.

Ants on peony. I wonder why ants are always attracted to peonies.

White flowers on a bush seperating us from our neighbors house.

Day 152 {Bun} & {Master Lego Builder!}

Lately I've been tossing my hair in a simple bun. Gets the hair off of my neck and is much cooler. I so need to do something different with my hair.

Jason loves his Legos. He could happily spend every day of his life building Legos. I love these little things about him.

Day 150 {Rough Feet}

Day 150

As you all know from some of my other feet pics, I hate socks and shoes. Most women love shoes, but I hate them. I go barefoot whenever I can. I love going barefoot, I think it comes from growing up in the country. Now that I'm living in the city, I still go barefoot out in yard and when we go visit my parents upnorth. It's a rare day when you see me with socks on in the house even. As you can tell from going barefoot, my feet don't like the perfect womans feet. They are rough around the edges, and this is as good as they get. But you know what, I don't care. As long as I can go barefoot, I'm happy.

Day 148 {Dentist}

Day 148

I had to go to the denist today to get a small cavity filled. I'm never fond of going to the dentist, never have been, never will. But I have found an awesome dentist who is so gentle and that I can trust. Plus she is awesome because she let me take my self-portrait a day there.

Day 146 {50's Housewife}

Day 146

Today I felt like a 50's housewife. Wearing a skirt while cleaning the house.

I have three of these little short skirts that I never wear out of the house. But they are so comfortable, perfect for cleaning.

Simply Us

Hubby and I on a walk tonight.

Converted to B&W and upped the contrast. Love how this one turned out. I realize for some that it may be overdone, but I love it.

Dairy Queen

Hubby and I walked to Dairy queen today and everytime we go there, he gets the same thing. A small M&M Blizzard. I tease him because he is so predictable.

I like a bit of variety and go between a few different blizzards, a hot fudge sundae, a small chocolate cone, or a medium Cherry Mister Misty. Today I had the medium Cherry Mister Misty.

Growing up I used to love the Cherry Mister Misty's. Now they had to go and change the name to "Artic Rush" but to me they will always be Mister Misty's.

Day 145 {Red?}

Day 145

That is how I got my tongue to match my shirt.

Dat 143 {Make a wish!}

Day 143

When I was younger, I was told that when you blow on dandelions, you had to make a wish. I made a wish today.

Day 140 {Me Lately}

Day 140

I've been on a reading kick again lately. I went through a huge stack of magazines and am halfway through a book I just started over the weekend.

Issues

I have issues with manhole covers and such. I hate walking over them. I will walk and step all goofy to avoid them. I guess I'm afraid that I will fall through them.

I also have the same issue with metal grates.

Goofy

"I'm going to get you and tickle you!"

I just love this picture of Jason. He is so goofy and funny, he makes me so happy. This is just so him.

Walking

Jason and I, and even me alone have been going on walks lately. Here are some recent pictures.

You can view the pictures here on Flickr. Read the description and you can even click on the thumbnails to make the pictures larger.

Haley's Picture

Whenever we go and visit Marie and Jerry, the kids are usually there and the girls, especially Haley and Bree give us drawings and pictures, which we always take home and hang on the fridge.

On Mother's Day it was no different. Haley and Bree met us at the door and gave me pictures and Bree also gave Jason one.

They were all colorful and beautiful as all 7 years old and 4 years old art is.

The one above, is from Haley, and made me tear up. If you can't tell from the picture, it says "Happy Mother Day Amber." It made me tear up because Jason and I haven't been able to have children, and yet one precious little one gave me a Mother's Day gift. Haley doesn't realize the meaning and imapct that this little drawing had on me.

Day 138 {Kissing!}

Day 138

Out on a walk today, and we stopped for a couple kisses.

I think I'm going to print this out in an 8x10 to go on our wall.

Gardening!

I am attempting to grow a few veggies this year. It's shocking. Me, with the brown thumb, attempting to garden. I decided to do it to see if I can't help lower our grocery bill at all and just to see if I can. So far, it's been a fun experience! I am actually loving it and enjoying it.

Well as you can see from these two pictures, I managed to grow some spouts!

We went up north one weekend, and when we came home, I looked in my containers that were in the window sills to see if anything had started to come up yet. I actually had SPROUTS coming up. I screamed, "I have sprouts!!!" and literally jumped up and down. I can't believe I grew something.

I'm not sure if I will keep the plants living, but I am trying it to see and I figure if anything, I will learn and do better next year. One thing I do know is that I need to start my plants in the house much earlier next year. I think I'm too late for what I'm attempting ot grow, but we will see. I also think I overwatered the plants to begin with. I will read, learn, and continue to garden. But the experience is so much fun! I can't tell you how much fun I'm actually enjoying it.
