30 Days of Nothing Update

So far Jason and I are doing good in ouir 30 Days of Nothing, though I do have a huge stock up list of things to buy when we have a bit of extra cash.  It seems like this time of year we are running out of everything.

Last Friday, October 17, I did spend $5 to go and crop at the Scrapbook Store, and that wasn't necessary.  But it was one of the cheap Friday $5 crops and after being sick all week I was itching to get out of the house.  The good thing is though that I managed to not buy a thing!!  For me that is HUGE!

Though I know that this weekend at the Scrapbooking Retreat I'm going to, I'm going to not do good.  But that's ok.   I'm really pleased with how this is going and how it is changing my thinking.  I am loving the not bringing things into the house!!!

30 Days of nothing update

I am happy to say that I haven't added anything to my total since my last post! Things are going great on that front!! We ran to Sam's really quick last night, and I managed to buy nothing that we didn't need. We bought food only. I'm a sucker for their books, but I didn't even go down the book aisle to be tempted. I am really liking not bringing un-necessary things into the house. I wonder if doing this for a month will help me change my shopping habits? I'm hoping that it will help a bit.

We still haven't removed anything from the house with me being sick, but I'm planning on making a dent in my magazines today, or at least hope to. I have a stack about a foot high that I haven't gone through yet. It's a small thing, but will be nice to get that clutter out of here.

Day 4 of 30 days of nothing

Well, today I wasn't very frugal at all. Though I wasn't that bad, but could have been much better. Today I spent $6.40. I bought 1 package of pop dots (forgot mine at home and was using them like crazy), 1 silver Stickles (last one left, and they just ordered them!), and I signed up to make an outfit again for Ms. La Tete and had to pay the $2 fee.

So far I have spent $7.14 on things that I didn't need need this month. There were many other temptations at the scrapbook store that I managed to resist, so that is a very good thing. Could be doing better though.

31 days of nothing or less

Michele over at A Decorated Life is hosting 31 Days of Nothing and Less.

Last month I started following Mary at Owl Haven who was doing 30 days of nothing. It really inspired me. I have a feeling that Michele's entry will as well.

Now I'm not doing this in the traditional sense, since I realized on reorganizing our pantry that we are running low on a lot of things and with the state of the economy, I'm feeling the need to get stocked up again. I'm also doing Christmas shopping and hoping to be done, done before December 1.

How I'm doing this is scrutinizing each and every purchase and really think about if I need it or not. My goal is to not bring anything home that we don't need. I also want to go through and see what we might be able to get rid of, though with just having a garage sale, I don't know how much I will find.

I have a feeling that this is really going to test me as I'm going scrapbooking on Saturday, and on October 31. There is also the scrapbooking retreat that I'm going to on October 24-26. That is already paid for. I'm hoping that I won't buy anything I don't need. Or at the very least limiting unnecessary purchases.

Today I have already failed. At Target we did a bit of grocery shopping and I bought a ruler. Not just any ruler, a metal ruler, that is 18 or 24 inches long, and it's pink. Best of all it was on clearance. Thus I wasn't able to pass it up. I spent $0.74 cents on it. Now typing this up, I'm feeling guilty for buying it, but I love metal rulers because I can't cut them up with my exacto knife, and I've been looking for one longer than 12 inches. I justified it in the store, but now I'm feeling guilty. Oh well, what's done is done. Tomorrow is a new day. :)

Anyone who reads this, can join in. Check out Michele's blog that I linked above. Enjoy the challenge!

Total Spent so far: $0.74
