Sing Along Saturday

I thought that sharing a few of the songs that I have been listening to lately might be fun. So today is Sing Along Saturday! If I'm going to do this more often I might even make a banner thing, and invite others to participate since I can never have too much music and I'm always looking for something new.

So in no particular order here are a few songs that I have been listening to a lot lately.

"On the Wings of a Snow White Dove" by Ferlin Husky
I've been listening to this a lot lately since it reminds me of Grandpa Nelson. I've really been missing him. I've realized lately that I haven't been dealing with his death well. But that's a whole different blog entry. The old style country is what Grandpa used to love. This song makes me feel closer to Grandpa somehow. And yes, it was played at his funeral.

"Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd
Growing up Dad used to listen to a lot of Pink Floyd and for the past couple of years or so I've been listening to more and more of it. "Comfortably Numb" has become part of playlists a lot recently.

"Runaway" by Love and Theft
This song has made my rotation since some days I would love to just sell everything, pack my bags and drive off to a new place. I think most people have that dream that they can just do that....

"Felt Good on my Lips" by Tim McGraw
This is a new song that I just love to sing around too! It sounds so different than most of Tim McGraw's songs, but it makes me just want to crank the music and sing.

"All I Want for Christmas is a Real Good Tan" by Kenny Chesney
Yes, I have been listening to Christmas music already. I just love me some Christmas Music. One day I am going to spend Christmas on the islands somewhere....

"Stuck Like Glue" by Sugarland
Ok, I have to say first of all. I HATE this video. Jenniffer Nettles (the lead singer) just annoys me. I can't stand her. But this song keeps getting stuck in my head. Though it could do without the whole country rap part. That annoys me. But I do like this song.

"Summer of '69" by Bryan Adams
This song I've always loved. Been listening to a fair amount of various 80's songs as well lately.

"Thinking 'Bout Somethin'" by Hanson
This song makes me just want to get up and dance!!! I grew up in the 90's, of course I still love boybands!!!

"Sweet Little '66" by Steve Earle
Once again, Ma and Dad used to listen to a fair amount of Steve Earle, and of course I HATED it, lol. But I've been listening to a lot of it. Unfortunately youtube does not have a fabulous version of this song, but I'm sure you can find one if you want to download the track.

"Get Off on the Pain" by Gary Allan
I just love Gary Allan. I really need to get his new CD that came out a while ago. I really enjoy his music.

I suppose I should stop now before I don't have any to do this again! And if you are looking for a new CD to pick up, check out Jason Aldean's newest CD "My Kinda Party." I really need to see Jason in concert again. He is AMAZING!!

Random Thoughts

First, I have to start out with a picture of Cullen. Maybe if I post pictures of him I will get more readers and comments since he is so handsome. ;)

The other day at lunch I actually wrote down some of my random thoughts in between eating and reading my book. Yup, I'm such a multi-tasker there. For your reading pleasure here they are.

  • There's just something about sitting down with music cranked loud that just makes my day.
  • I never realized how much fun the word Cullen is to write. Certain words make me happy.
  • My Ipod cracked me up. It went from "Laughed Until We Cried" by Jason Aldean to "Crazy Bitch" by Buckcherry. My taste in music is eclectic. I like it that way. Never know what's going to come on next.
  • It annoys me that some songs are the perfect volume and other sounds go from really loud to really quiet. Grrrr.
  • Writing on a pad of paper is really soothing and relaxing to me. Coloring in coloring books with a new set of crayons is also soothing and relaxing to me.
  • Loving the Twilight Score that I downloaded. Wonderful music. You should really check it out.
  • I'm almost part-time again. YAY!
  • It's funny how my writing changes. It goes from almost perfect to really messy. I don't mean to do it either.
  • I really want to go and see Jason Aldean in concert again. Heck, I'd love to go to a concert again, it's been way too long.
  • "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" by Kenny Chesney really puts me in an awesome summer good. The song just says beach and summer all over it. Love it.
  • One of the things I miss most while working full-time is being able to nap with Jason.
  • So happy that I ordered my laptop! One more thing to check off my lists.
  • It's beautiful outside today. Wishing I were there instead of here at work.
  • I have some really redneck songs on my ipod, but I love them. A couple of them are "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" by John Denver and "Redneck Girl" by the Bellamy Brothers.
  • I have a couple Guitar Hero songs that just make me want to play the game. "Talk Dirty to Me" by Poison, "Slowride" by Foghat and "Hit me with your best shot" by Pat Benetar.
  • I like my tall kinda skinny writing best. I have to make an effort to write like that.
  • Are you able to speak in lyrics?
  • Love me some Taylor Swift songs...."White Horses" and "Love Song" are two of my current favs.
  • The song "Chicken Fried" by the Zac Brown Band is so country, but I love it. One of my current favs.
  • Music sounds the best LOUD.
  • Music fuels my cleaning.

New Song!

Well it's not really a new song, but I love it! Growing up both Ma and Dad used to listen to Steve Earle quite a bit. Ma loved blaring some of his songs. I remember Ma singing along to Sweet Little '66, Copperhead Road, and Guitar Town. In fact I have a few songs by him in my itunes library.

I absolutely love the movie P.S. I Love You. If you need a good cry, that movie will do it for you. So will the book. I had to read the book with a box of kleenex sitting by me. Anyway, I was looking for songs from the movie, and the one I really wanted I found out was Galway Girl by Steve Earle! I am now obsessed with that song.

If you haven't heard this song before you must crank it up and listen to it. It's best heard loud.

Random memory

I was talking Christmas songs on Mama Central and then I diverted the conversation as I am so good at.

Growing up in the evenings we used to sit on the deck at Grandma and Grandpa's house and watch for the deer to come out.  Grandpa had me convinced that the deer would never come out unless we had Conway Twitty music playing on the tape deck.  I never caught on that it was the same time every evening, the deer could hear the music and that is what made them come out.  Too funny.

There was another song that I don't know, but it had to do with a church and mouse that Grandpa nad I liked.  Something about Sunday mornings, I do believe.  Need to remember that.

I remember the "Thistlehair the Christmas Bear" song by Alabama too.  I wish I could find that somewhere to download.   One of my favs.  I need that song again.
